New York City, NY

Today, we went on a guided tour leaving from the campground to New York City.  We saw many interesting sites:  The Dakota, Central Park, Broadway, Wall Street, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, Firefighter's Memorial Wall, St. Paul's Chapel, Freedom Tower, Met Life Stadium (Jets and Giants), Macy's, Trump Tower, Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Building, Battery Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, and the Teardrop.

Ground Zero was unavailable for public view without advanced tickets.  Even with advanced tickets, the wait time was over three hours.  We were able to walk by the work area at Ground Zero and saw the Freedom Tower still under construction.  Upon completion, it will be the tallest building in New York City.  We were able to walk by and see the Firefighter's Memorial Wall adjacent to Ground Zero.

The Dakota was the apartment complex where John Lennon of the Beatles was assassinated on its entrance steps.

The Teardrop was a gift from President Vladimir Putin and the People of Russia to the United States after the 9/11 attack as a monument to the struggle against world terrorism.
