New York City, NY

Today, we went on a guided tour leaving from the campground to New York City.  We saw many interesting sites:  The Dakota, Central Park, Broadway, Wall Street, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, Firefighter's Memorial Wall, St. Paul's Chapel, Freedom Tower, Met Life Stadium (Jets and Giants), Macy's, Trump Tower, Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Building, Battery Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, and the Teardrop.

Ground Zero was unavailable for public view without advanced tickets.  Even with advanced tickets, the wait time was over three hours.  We were able to walk by the work area at Ground Zero and saw the Freedom Tower still under construction.  Upon completion, it will be the tallest building in New York City.  We were able to walk by and see the Firefighter's Memorial Wall adjacent to Ground Zero.

The Dakota was the apartment complex where John Lennon of the Beatles was assassinated on its entrance steps.

The Teardrop was a gift from President Vladimir Putin and the People of Russia to the United States after the 9/11 attack as a monument to the struggle against world terrorism.

Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

We spent three days in the Smoky Mountains.  We arrived in Sevierville, TN on Friday afternoon.  The Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg area is so beautiful.  We stayed at The Dell Motorcoach Resort in Sevierville.  One afternoon, we went to Cades Cove to look for wildlife.  We saw 21 deer, 9 turkey, 1 fox, and 1 bear.  Unfortunately, I did not get a good picture of the black bear because it was so dark.  On Saturday night, we went to the Smoky Mountain Opry.  This musical show was every bit as good as a Branson show.  We also enjoyed going to church at First Baptist Church, Sevierville on Sunday morning.
Our next destination is Harrisonburg, Virgina before staying four nights in the New York City area.

Columbus, Mississippi

On the fourth day of driving, we arrived in Columbus, Mississippi.  Two of Nancy's sisters (Evelyn and Barbara) live about 7 miles outside of Columbus on beautiful acreage which I affectionately call "The Compound." We have water and electrical hook-ups for the motorhome.  They have built a large pond on the property which is filling up with water.  Yesterday, it rained 3 inches.........a flood by Arizona standards.  I feel certain progress was made in the pond!  We are staying here for four nights.  Below are some pictures of The Compound!!
